Strategic objective of the project

Creation of a monothematic centre in the field of "Public Health": the integration of infrastructure for excellence in research, education and international cooperation.

The strategic objective of the project links the substantive priorities of research and development 6.1.1 'Health - quality of life‘ of A long-term plan for state science and technology policy to 2015, namely in the group of fields of science and technology no. 030 000 "Medical science" in the sub-group of the fields of science and technology no. 030300 "Health sciences" in the field of science and technology no. 030307 "Public health".

SThe strategic objective of the project is intrinsically linked with the global objective of the Operational Programme “Research and development: They contribute in an essential way to the quality of research institutes in the field of "public health" at the target university, contribute to the achievement of excellent research in this area, as well as to health and improving the quality of life. Achieving the strategic objective will have a positive impact on socioeconomic development of the region defined in the OPR & D objective, with a positive impact on improving efficiency in the economics field of reducing morbidity.

The project is designed in accordance with the long-term development plans of the applicant. Its implementation will take place in priority pole of growth (Kosice), which is at the same time the intersection of several primary axes of development according to the binding conception of territorial development in Slovakia.

The project will contribute to reducing regional disparities, reflecting the vision of regional policy and regional innovation strategies of the Slovak Republic and the European Union.

Building a Centre of Excellence in the field of "Public Health" (CEMIO) to upgrade the infrastructure of departments to streamline research and educational processes and to integrate into international cooperation in this field is directly related to the objective of Measure 2.1 of Operational Programme Research and development "to increase the quality of research facilities and support excellent research with an emphasis on areas of strategic importance for the further development of the economy and society ".

SThe strategic objective of the project is linked to the specific objectives of the call for applications for grant assistance to: promote the concentration of the best (excellent) Community research and training teams do monothematic centres with defined goals for implementing research activities in the given scientific field; stimulate research and development and develop the best and most promising sites; support the integration of research and development in international cooperation in research and development, particularly in the European Research Area;

The modernisation and pooling of infrastructure into a centre with collateral coordination of research and education activities will be achieved by the development of excellent research in the field of "Public Health" in Slovakia and its integration into international cooperation in research and development, which will create optimal conditions for the formation of effective preventive procedures for chronic diseases. This project will thus address the resolution of serious socioeconomic problems, including problems of health and quality of life for marginalised groups, including Roma communities.

1. Building common infrastructure for research of health determinants and opportunities for effective disease prevention for marginalised people

The building of a common infrastructure for researching factors affecting health, focusing on a group of marginalised and immunocompromised persons will contribute significantly to the upgrading of infrastructure sites in the field of "Public Health".

This will provide the most association of the most effective university research capacities in the field of internal diseases and related fields to achieve effective long-term coordinated research and education in the field. The concentration of modernised infrastructure in the SC 1 is a prerequisite for the implementation of SC 2nd

SC1 contributes to the fulfilment of the project goal in the field of infrastructure support for the applicant's development plan, the Regional Innovation Strategy and the Long-term plan of the SVTP SR.

2. Integrating the research potential of centres of excellence and its involvement in international cooperation

The integration of workplaces carrying out research and prevention in the field of "Public Health" to the centre of excellence will improve the study of factors affecting health, focusing on a group of marginalised and immunocompromised persons, with the simultaneous process of improving education in this field and subsequent integration of the centre. SC2 will be secured by using the acquired infrastructure and addressing common research and development projects. SC2 contributes to the strategic aim of the project in the field of integration of research work and education in modernised infrastructure centres, with results and consequences for regional development, development of a knowledge society, gender equality and addressing the issues of health and quality of life in Roma communities. By integrating a centre of excellence into international cooperation, we will achieve cutting-edge research at international level with the presentation of research results in international forums, training and implementation of analysis in foreign research facilities and the creation of international research projects. The implementation of SC2 creates the prerequisites for reporting on international research projects of the FP7 type and similar projects. SC2 thus contributes to the development plan of the applicant, the Regional Innovation Strategy and Long-term plan SVTP SR.
