Bratislava's medical student association (BSM) was established in 1920, one year after the grounding of the Medical faculty and Comenius University. It is a voluntary community of medical students, each student of Medical faculty can be practically a member, but also we have many active students from other faculties as members. Main task of BSM is to improve environment for medical students, care for their social life, sport activities and famous projects trying to help people all over Slovakia with their physical and mental health. By now it has 1447 members.

Slovak Medical Students´Association (SloMSA) associates medical students in Slovakia through its 3 Local Committees: Bratislavský Spolok Medikov in Bratislava, Martinský klub medikov in Martin and Spolok Medikov mesta Košice in Košice. SloMSA is a member of International Federation of Medical Students´Associations (IFMSA) and acts actively on international level. On National level SloMSA gives its members unique opportunity to participate on professional and research exchanges for one month in countries all over the world. Beside this SloMSA runs successful projects on the field of both Public and Reproductive health, such as: Teddybear hospital, Day for Health, Workshops for high school students about Reproductive health and First Gynecological Consultation.

The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) is an international organization that serves medical students across the globe since 1951. The federation represents over 1.2 million medical students from 92 countries on six continents. We have a lasting official relationship to the UN and have been recognized as the international forum for medical student by the World Health Organisation.
Every year, nearly 11,000 students participate in the exchange programs of the IFMSA; thousands more design projects, attend conferences, and plan events in such areas as human rights and refugee health, medical education, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, international research and public health. Our mandate, as we interpret it, is to train and sensitize medical students to become advocates for health issues that they will face later as practitioners.
